General description
The Island Packet 420 was a significant evolution from prior Island Packet models. It is improved in it's diminsions, in it's seakeeping ability and comfort and in it's stability and speed. The LOA is 44 ft 7". She has two private cabins and heads, galley, salon and substantial interior headroom at 6 ft 5". Under full canvas she carries 1088 sqft of sail. Tankage is also adequate for cruising with 160 gallons of fuel and 250 gallons water, plus a 15 GPH watermaker. She has nearly 400 cubic feet ft of dedicated storage area.

This particular boat is a one owner boat. It has been very well equipped, very well maintained and cruised lightly between Florida and the Bahamas over the past 5 years. The owners have taken exceptionally good care of the boat. The gelcoat is in perfect condition. The teak brightwork literslly gleams. And the winches all shine like mirrors. The loving TLC this boat received is abundant everywhere.

She is very well equipped. Outside her owners have added a Sidepower bow thruster, a Lighthouse dual capstan anchor windlass, a Doyle UPS spinnaker & Facnor furling system, dual Raymarine chart plotters, (helm & nav station), an ST 6000 autopilot with gyro compass directional sensing, oversized Lewmar winches, an Avon 10 ft, hard bottom dingy with a Honda 15 HP outboard, and very robust Kato SS radar arch and dingy davit system. Inside they have added things like; Fischer-Panda 5.5 kw generator, two Aqua Air air-conditioner units, (16 BTU & 8k BTU), Spectra 400 watermaker, Icom M710RT SSB with SCS Pactor modem and email capability, two vaccu-flush 12 vdc heads, dual Raymarine plotter, with chart, radar, GPS display. The list goes on and on. They equipped her well for serious cruising and then cruised in comfort and safety for five years. If you want a serious 42 ft blue water boat, extremely well equipped, easy to handle and truely ready to go cruising tomorrow, look no further, this is it!

Cockpit, main salon & galley
The cockpit of the IP 420 is spacious, comfortable and offers good security and comfort. There are comfortable cockpit cushions for complete port and starboard benches. A blue canvass dodger and bimini, both in very good condition and with new izenglass windows, covers and protects the cockpit, companionway and occupants from weather and spray. There is a large custom teak cockpit table with fiddles to keep items from sliding off the table. The helm position is well thought out with the Raymarine RL-70 chart plotter, bow thruster controls, ship's compass, Raymarine 6000 auto-pilot control and a very nice leather covered wheel. Raymarine ST 60 wind, speed and depth instruments are clearly visible.

Custom, hinged, teak doors lead from the companionway below. The salon and galley are typical Island Packet, well thought out, spacious, beautiful, with plenty of headroom, lighting, ventilation and storage. The galley floor is a cream colored and non-skid surface. The salon floor is teak and holly in excellent condition. Cabinetry is all teak. The salon seating is all 6" thick foam covered with a medium blue, very comfortable ultra-leather fabric. The navigation and communications desk located, amidships, to starboard, is the centerpiece of the main salon. It boasts plenty of desk area and instrumentaion panels and a convenient hydraulicly operated navigation seat (with a backrest), which swings in and out at the press of a button. Included here are a flat screen TV which can be used for TV, movies or as a computer display. Also here is a second Raymarine RL-70 chart plotter/radar display which is interfaced to the RL-70 at the helm, showing all navigational and ships data at both locations. An Icom M710RT 150 watt HF SSB, (modified to operate on both the ham and marine frequencies), is mounted in a custom instrument cabinet just above the navigation desk and instruments. See detailed list of electronics.

The salon offers good headroom, lighting and ventilation, port and starboard settees, a table which in combination with the starboard settee converts into a double berth for two, and plenty of storage. The table is a signature Islanad Packet design, which folds conveniently up to the bulkhead for storage when underway. And behind the table, when in the "up" position, are a series of racks and shelves for glasses, wine, etc. Very secure and handy. Note that the mast which on all Island Packets is keel-stepped, is handsomely covered in the same blue ultra leather as the settees are. Another nice touch.

The galley too is really well layed out and delightful. The galley is to the right of the companionway. It is "U" shaped, with counters, cabinets double SS deep sinks, Force 10 stove and refrigerator/freezer all within easy reach. It too has plenty of headroom, ventilation and lighting. The refrigerator/freezer is a large, efficient, side by side, Frigaboat unit with seawater cooling accomplished via a keel mounted seawater pickup unit. The refrig/freezer tops are on hydraulic plungers which easily lift and support the lids when open. Temperature guages are mounted on the front of the two units so that the cooling temperature of each unit can be seen at a glance.

Brokers Comments
This is an exceptional cruising vessel. I think the photos and description herein say it all. But the real credit goes to Leroy and Charlotte, owners of the boat, for their outfitting and superb maintenance of this fine cruising vessel. Note too the salon cabinet (portside), dedicated to holding all the ship's papers and equipment and systems manuals. I will be delighted to show it to you.
