Overview

PRICE JUST REDUCED - NOW JUST $229,000!!

The Orion 50 is a fast, low profile, center cockpit, ketch/cutter from the board of designer Gary Mull. She was built to very high standards by the renowned Taiwan yards of Ta Shing. Originally sailed in fresh water, it was upgraded to a world cruising yacht by her prior owner in the late 90's. No expense was spared in preparing her for extended ocean crossings. All areas of the boat were upgraded. The present owner has also made several upgrades. She is an outstanding bluewater cruiser and just needs some TLC.

Being a 50 ft, centercockpit boat she has a roomy three cabin layout. And being a ketch/cutter she has a very flexible sailplan, can accomodate a wide wind range, and can be handled by a crew of one or two. She is a beautiful boat, with a low profile and golden teak decks. And she has an attractively designed and very robust set of davits with an electric dingy platform at the stern. She sports full electronics, chart plotter, auto-pilot, radar, SSB, watermaker, generator, etc. If you are looking for a 50 foot, offshore capable boat, especially if you're looking for a ketch/cutter, don't miss seeing her.

The Orion 50 is a fast, low profile, center cockpit, ketch/cutter from the board of designer Gary Mull. She was built to very high standards by the renowned Taiwan yards of Ta Shing. Ta Shing also builds Taswell, Mason, Norseman, Baba, Panda, etc. Originally sailed in fresh water, it was upgraded to a world cruising yacht by her prior owner in the late 90's. No expense was spared in preparing her for extended ocean crossings. All areas of the boat were upgraded. The present owner has also made several upgrades and she is now in new or better than new condition.

The main salon has a U-shaped dinette that can seat 6 plus 2 bar stools around a beautiful teak table. The seating area has just been reupholstered in July of 2005. To port behind the settee is a bookshelf and lockers for storage. On the bulkhead forward is a 23" flat panel TV (2005). There is also storage in the base of the teak table.

The galley is to starboard and well designed for cooking at sea and entertaining in port. Outboard is the Force 10, 3-burner stove and oven. The top opening fridge and freezer (new July 2005) are to your left and the double stainless steel sink on the right. There is plenty of counter space and large cupboards for storage, and stowage under the sink as well. Just aft are the pantry and a counter with two bar stools and footrest for breakfast or lunch.
