Overview

PRICE JUST REDUCED TO $198,900! VERY CLASSY CATALINA! MUST SELL!

This is the beautiful and versatile 2003 Catalina 400 Mk II. At 40 ft LOA and with a displacement of over 20,000 lbs, she is a solidly built and a comfortable family cruiser. She has a secure keel stepped mast, a fin keel (with a wing), and a spade rudder so is fast, and very easy to tack or maneuver in tight quarters. Her outstanding feature is her wide aft sections, enabling twin helms and a spacious master cabin. She is the two cabin version and so is very roomy below. Catalinas are designed to be light and airy below with lighter teak finishes, and plenty of windows, ports and hatches. Headroom is very good, (6 1/2 feet plus), in the living spaces and less, (but entirely adequate for sleeping) in the master and V berth. The large salon settee converts to a third double berth so she can sleep up to six. Storage lockers and compartments are everywhere.

She is a very well equipped, one owner boat. The present owners have used her relatively little. She has very low engine hours. They have taken very good care of her, and have kept her very clean and meticulously maintained.

She is well equipped for cruising or racing. She has a large 56 HP Yanmar engine, a powerful sloop rig, mainsail, genoa, spinnaker, chart plotter, radar, auto-pilot, air conditioning, generator and comes with an Avon 10 ft RIB inflatable dingy (on SS davits), and 9.9 HP Yanmar outboard and a full set of canvas. She is perfect for family cruising, racing, or just weekend gunkholing. And with her 5' 4" draft and modest 58' mast clearance she is ICW friendly and absolutely perfect for the shallow waters of Florida and the Bahamas.

Catalina Yachts was founded by Frank Butler in 1970. His goal at the outset was to build good quality, affordable, family oriented sailboats. By all measures he and Catalina Yachts have succeeded in every way. They have now been designing and building quality sailboats for 35 years. And they know what they are doing. They have plants in Florida and California.

General comments - Hull, Cockpit & Rig
This is the beautiful and versatile 2003 Catalina 400 Mk II. At 40 ft LOA and with a displacement of over 20,000 lbs, she is a solidly built and a comfortable family cruiser. She has a secure keel stepped mast, a fin keel (with a wing), and a spade rudder so she is fast, and very easy to tack or maneuver in tight quarters. Her outstanding feature is her wide aft sections, enabling twin helms and a spacious master cabin. She even sports a swim platform and swim shower.

Accomodations - Main salon, Galley & Nav desk
Below the Catalina 400 Mk II is very well designed, roomy, light and airy. Attention has even been paid to the safety and security of the main companionway and ladder. There are convenient SS handholds on both sides of the companionway. The ladder has wide and angled steps with non-skid surfaces, so is safe at rest or underway. The cabin soles, bulkheads and cabinetry are all beautiful, finely finished teak and ashe woodwork.

Layout: The galley to starboard. It is a very well designed U shaped design with safe non-skid flooring. The navigation area, navigation desk, chair and all instrumentation are to port. Settee and table are forward of the galley.

Galley: The galley is well located amidships, U shaped teak and ashe cabinets and Corian countertops. Amentites include a top and front loading refrigerator/freezer, a microwave, A gimbaled, 3 burner stove and oven, two deep SS sinks with Grohe faucets and a convenient hand sprayer. A convenient top and side access trash receptabcle is built to the left of the sink. A convenient two shelf glass rack is overhead. There is plenty of cabinetry and a built in SS safety bar in front of the stove/oven. Plenty of light comes into the galley from the two large windows to starboard. It is a delightful galley.

Salon: The settee is large and U shaped with soft blue leather upholstery. It can converts to a comfortable third double berth. To port, across from the U settee is a straight settee, also with soft blue leather upholstery. Headroom, light and ventilation are excellent. All ports and hatches have convenient accordian shades for privacy or to block intense sunlight. Two Marine Air air conditioning units (which can run on shore power or the generator), keep the interior cool, dry and comfortable. A 16,000 btu unit cools the salon, galley and forward cabin. A 10,000 btu unit cools the master cabin. (The 44 gallon fuel tank and two 20 gallon holding tanks are under the two settees). Batteries are at the base of the companionway.

Navigation & electronics: The navigation desk is amidships to minimize motion and facilitate communication with the galley and cockpit. It has a desk, with lifting top, storage space underneath and a swing out swivel chair, with backrest. All electronis and 12 vdc and 120 vac metering and circuit breakers are within easy sight and reach. Mounted here are the VHF radio, Raymarine ST-60 "Multi" navigation data repeater, generator controls, fuel guage and the TV/video player, etc.

Accomodations - Master & Guest staterooms
The master aft cabin has a large centerline queen sized berth with an actual inner spring mattress. The blue leather upholstery of the salon is carried into the master cabin covering two large, comfortable seats, to the left and right of the berth. There is plenty of storage in various hanging lockers, cabinets and bins on both sides of the cabin. The private head has a vanity, upper and lower cabinets, a large mirror, SS sink, a manual head, and separate shower with a hinged door for privacy. The master cabin has two large opening hatches and three ports for light and ventilation. It also has it's own 10,000 btu Marine Air air conditioning unit and digital control.

The forward guest cabin has a centerline V berth, with an inner spring mattress, and a head and shower. It too has a teak and ashe cabin sole, and teak and ashe shelving. For light and ventilation it has a large opening hatch. The forward head has a vanity, upper and lower cabinets, two mirrors, a SS sink, manual head and hand held shower. (The 55 gallon fuel tank is under the V berth) The forward head also serves the main salon.

Due to the bow area deck height and cockpit sole levels, the headroom over the berths in both cabins is restricted but very adequate for sleeping. Both heads have their own separate holding tanks, Y valves and macerator pumps for overboard discharge when appropriately well offshore.
