Descriptions

Accommodations

The popular Jeanneau 409 features a master forward with an ensuite head/shower and two aft cabins with a shared head.  The aft shower has been flipped over from the 2 cabin layout so the size has not been lost as in other 3 cabin layouts.

The galley is to starboard and nav station to port of the companionway.  A delux dinette that also converts to a berth is large enough to seat 6 comfortably.

Teak Alpi paneling and a teak/holly laminate sole give this model a traditional look and feel.

Two separate CruiseAire A/C systems maintain the interior comfort.

Galley

The L-shaped galley is large enough to prepare meals but cozy and safe enough while underway.  It features a double stainless sink with covers, a gimballed 2 burner propane stove and oven, a built in microwave, large 12V fridge and freezer, and lots of cubbies, drawers and storage cabinets.

Engine/Mechanical

Daphne is powered by a reliable Yanmar 3JH5-CE engine located under the lifting companionway steps.  The engine drives a sail drive transmission with a fixed 3 blade propeller.  Access for maintenance is located on both side and in the aft cabins.  All strainers, filters and impellors are easily accessed.  Hobbs meter currently shows 260 hours.

To help with close in maneuvering, there is the optional Quick bow thruster forward with controls at the steering helm.

Electical

Power is supplied via 2 X 30A shore power cords while at the dock.  Additionally a NextGen Ultra compact 5.5 KW diesel generator is installed under the port helm seat to supply 110V power while away from the dock.  Genset hours show 460.

Electronics

The electronics suite is provided by Simrad with a Simrad autopilot and IS20 display at the stbd helm, a IS20 display and IS20 wind display at the port helm and a Simrad NSS8 chartplotter/GPS located on the cockpit table in an articulating ScanStrut pod.

A Simrad VHF is located at the nav station along with the Simrad Audio docking station.

Sails and rigging

Daphne was ordered with the optional in-mast furling mainsail using a Sparcraft mast and the standard 106% furling genoa lead to fairlead cars mounted on the coach roof.  The control lines for the genoa are run under the roof combing to the cockpit.

The main sail furling lines run to the cockpit and are controlled on a stbd side turning block and a Harken 40.2 self tailing/2 speed manual winch to port.  The main sheet is run as German sheeting to both of the helm station and uses the same Harken 46.2 winches as the genoa sheets.

Deck and Cockpit

The cockpit is large with comfortable with easy access below and forward.  The cockpit talble folds out for dining and away for sailing.  A full bimini provides shade over the cockpit.

The ground tackle is the standard Delta 44 lb plow anchor with 250 ft of chain/rope rode.  The anchor is controlled thru a Quick 1000W windlass with a wired remote control at the bow and a second control with chain counter at the steering helm.
