ALL the modern luxuries...completely self-sufficient. Live in comfort off the grid.

"Elandra" was recently full refitted by Howdy Bailey Shipyard in Norfolk, VA, and boasts upgraded electronics, appliances, sails, and more! She is a custom 65' steel George Sutton-designed pilothouse schooner. Originally built in 1988 by Mark Treworgy, she was recently completely rebuilt by the well-known and highly respected Howdy Bailey Shipyard in Norfolk, VA. Her prior owners spared no expense on the refit, spending over $900,000. With a 6.5' draft and 61' mast height, she can cruise the IWC and Bahamas easily, but she's built to take you around the world. Her traditional rig is complemented by all new sails, and she has every modern convenience one could want. History

Updated History- Schooner Elandra

Elandra is truly a one-of-a-kind steel schooner. She runs full-cut marconi sails on main and foremast. Her rigging includes a roller furling headsail with hank-on staysail.

Elandra was designed by George Sutton, the renowned steel boat designer and builder (Sutton Boat Works) of Tarpon Springs, FL and then St. Augustine, FL during the 70's and 80's.  She was built in St. Augustine in 1988 by Mark Treworgy, a very well-known and respected steel boat builder who collaborated heavily with George Sutton.

From 2007-2016 the Schooner Elandra underwent a complete refit in the respected Howdy Bailey Yacht Services and Boatyard in Norfolk Virginia, her previous owner to the current took on the multi-year project of finishing-out this beautiful boat. Howdy Bailey and team employed their fine joiner skills to craft an interior using Cherry and Imperial Walnut for the cabin sole. Her interior was built with an eye to practicality, comfort and safety.

The Schooner Elandra has rounded bilges (rolled steel) - a very special and unusual feature on steel boats of this size, most of which are hard chine.  She is a dream to sail, with a sea kindly motion in a variety of conditions, and a fair turn of speed.

Virtually every system on the boat was updated through to 2016, with receipts showing a total refit investment exceeding $900,000. The current owners plans have changed, so Elandra is on the market for only the second time in the last 14 years! Elandra is as sound, safe, and seaworthy a boat as you are going to find.  If you are looking for a truly classic vessel that draws attention in every port then Elandra is worth your consideration.  This unique schooner is ready to take you anywhere in the world you desire in safety, comfort and style.
