Comments

Pilothouse yachts have always been popular with serious cruisers due to their graceful lines, versatile layouts and all- weather capability. The Hampton 558 embodies all of these characteristics with the added benefits of a full-width salon, a strong list of standard equipment, and--during her production years--a very competitive price. Built in Shanghai, China, on a semi-displacement hull with a moderate keel and underwater exhausts, the 558's standard two-stateroom interior is arranged with walkaround queen berths in both cabins, a built-in washer/ dryer combo, and Corian counters in the heads and galley. A large- screen TV with electric lift is standard in the salon, and high-gloss cherry cabinets and woodwork are featured throughout the interior. Visibility from the pilothouse, four steps up from the salon level, is excellent. A flybridge overhang shades the cockpit, and an electric hatch in the cockpit sole provides easy access to the engine room. Additional features include twin transom doors, integral swim platform, bow thruster, and hardtop. Cummins 540hp diesels cruise at 16-18 knots (20+ top).
