RARE 1983 PACIFIC SEACRAFT FLICKA 20
TURN KEY AND READY TO CRUISENO TRAILER AVAILABLE WITH THIS VESSEL
Carolina Calm is a rare 1983 Pacific Seacraft Flicka 20, sailed and professionally maintained by her discerning owner.  She is a tough well founded pocket sized blue water sailboat, designed by the widely recognized Bruce P. Bingham with a strong pedigree for ocean crossings. The Flicka 20 has been dubbed by many as a "Pocket Cruiser" because with only a 3'3" draft, she can easily tuck into any of the most picturesque and remote anchorages. Carolina Calm is a sloop rig with a traditional full keel, with a transom hung rudder. With her 1999 model 1GM10 10 hp diesel engine with less approximately 760 hours, she sips fuel @ nominal 0.25 gallons/hour at cruise speed. Her accommodations includes a traditional forward "V"-berth along with a quarter berth to port aft. The galley is situated amidships with a two-burner alcohol stove, a deep stainless steel sink, a deep icebox and a convenient hinged table. As plus, she has an enclosed head with a holding tank, so no need for a cumbersome porta- potty. The cabin is appointed with teak trimmed and a holly sole, offering standing headroom of 5'11". As a sloop rigged vessel, she is fitted with a roller furling jib, two jib sheet winches in the cockpit with sheets running to aft. Her sail area is a nominal 250 square feet with a mast clearance of 30'11'. Bronze deck hardware are provided with an anchor roller mounted on the bow supporting her anchor,  Her design heritage is a recreational keelboat, but with tough spirt, predominantly of fiberglass and with limited wood trim. As a slope with a bowsprit, a slightly spooned plumb stem, an over-vertical transom, a keel-mounted rudder controlled by a tiller and a fixed long keel all provide ease of maneuvering.
For those who may be interested, her design has a PHRF racing average handicap of 288 with a high of 270 and low of 303. It has a hull speed of 5.71 kn.  In a review in Good Old Boat magazine,  John Vigor wrote, " The Flicka is high quality in a small package with a large price tag. But you have to remember that she offers the accommodations (if not the performance) of a boat 6 or 8 feet longer. For a cruising couple, that's snug, but ample ... Because she is a cult boat, she is strongly and sensibly constructed, the Flicka retains her value very well on the second-hand market. She ages well, and there is very little to go wrong. The price of a used Flicka will be substantially lower than that of a new boat, of course, but there are very few basement bargains unless you happen to come across one of the pre-1978 originals, built by an amateur from a finished hull or a kit. Flickas built by Pacific Seacraft are rugged, solid craft, with top-quality cabinetry, finish, and detailing. There isn't another production boat of her size in the U.S. that rivals her interior space and ocean-going capabilities. She's small enough to handle easily, but big enough to live in comfortably. For the price of a new Flicka, you could buy a used larger boat of another make, just as seaworthy and a whole lot faster and more comfortable. Hundreds of Flicka owners know that full well, but they're not tempted. This little spellbinder is all they've ever sought and all they'll ever need."
